A Lesson on Leadership 1

What we Can Learn From The Failed Texas Central Bullet Train

Ankush Minda

The Texas Central Railway (TCR) was a project that aimed to build a high-speed rail line between Houston and Dallas, two of the largest and fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the US. The project was expected to cost around $20 billion and be completed by 2026. The TCR claimed that the rail line would offer a safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly alternative to driving or flying, and would boost the economy and create jobs in both cities.

However, the project faced many challenges and obstacles, both internally and externally. Internally, the TCR had problems with its leadership, as several key executives left the company in 2020 and 2021. This made people wonder if the project would work and if it could be trusted. Outside of the TCR, a group of landowners, counties, and cities along the proposed route filed a lawsuit against the project, citing eminent domain, the environment, safety, and the public interest. The lawsuit was filed in 2019 and was still ongoing as of 2022.

The Texas Central Railway was a controversial and ambitious project that could have changed the way people got around and how the economy worked in Texas. However, it also faced a lot of legal, financial, and logistical problems that could have stopped it from getting done. The project's future was still uncertain. It depended on how the lawsuit turned out, how much money was available, and how much support and demand there was for high-speed rail in Texas.

Then came another lawsuit. Now, we want answers. This will be part of a series of blogs on the failure in leadership at Texas Central Railway, abuse of power, and much more.
